Relationship to Federal Efforts
The America 250 | CT Commission, founded via Executive Order by Governor Lamont in 2022 and administered by CT Humanities, is leading commemorative activities for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Connecticut.
The nonpartisan commission is comprised of leaders at various state agencies and cultural organizations throughout the state who have created guidance for Connecticut municipalities and organizations conducting commemorative activities. At the heart of this work is Connecticut’s role in the founding of and building of our country. Initiatives led by America 250 | CT are informed by members of the commission, listening sessions conducted in spring of 2023, and further work with municipalities and organizations.
As one of 56 state and territorial commissions, America 250 | CT is a state partner of the national America250 and is therefore able to provide sublicensing of the wordmark America250 to partner organizations. Since its inception, America 250 | CT has relied on guidance and leadership from the American Association for State and Local History to develop our resources for Connecticut residents. These national relationships have provided a network of state commissions throughout the country with which to collaborate and share ideas.
Approved America 250 | CT affiliate organizations and municipal committees wishing to sublicense the wordmark America250 should contact info@ct250.org. Organizations which are not yet approved affiliates may learn more about the program and apply here. Applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis through early June 2026.
